hometown visit Re-visited.

Aug 27, 2012

MD was, in a word, amazing.
I always think trips like this will be super stressful and exhausting.
I am kind of bad with the whole pessimistic attitude thing.

Well, it wasn't at all.
It was delightful in every possible way!
I drank coffee (too much as usual) and chai tea lattes, read books (wow), had eager babysitters 24/7, had a happy baby that was thrilled to be entertained at all times & last but not least, MUSIC and laughter.
My fam is pretty good at those last two.

& b/c you didn't quite see enough @lifeinmod Instagram #hometownvisit pics these past 2 weeks...

Ooooh, you are so welcome.

;)

Now back to the daily grind.
I am totally cool with it.

I have tons on my 'to-do' list- including working on le Pompon, cleaning up this blog a bit and housework.
& go!

After another coffee, of course...

a 5 second beach trip.

Aug 20, 2012

I haven't been to the beach all summer. Moo hasn't ever been.
I know, a crime.
I got my fam to agree to a day beach trip to Bethany Beach, DE.
Best idea. Ever. Right?

We all piled into our cars at 8 am yesterday morning...
well, it was quite the adventure.

To sum it up:

we didn't get there until 2:30 (our GPS psycho lady took us some back woods way...& we had to listen to her)
It was cloudy when we arrived...which I was cool with until...
after being on the beach for 1 hour it started to rain...the cold kind...
We were chilly. & wet.

All in all, I have to say that the 9 hours in the car was worth it just to see my baby Moo happily stomping in the ocean as the little waves crashed on her little feet.
She kept yelling "la laa! la LA!" (Moo language: water).
If she had had her way, we would have withstood the cold rain and played in the "la la" all day and night.

:)

I would do it all again.
(w/ a raincoat, shots of espresso and a mentally stable GPS)

Happy Monday, lovies!

hometown visit: brother in the road

Aug 13, 2012

& I made it to my hometown, with Moo...all by myself.
We made it with out all of my sanity being thrown out of the window of my a/c-less VW.
Well, at least not all of it.

Anyways, something about being back in this area & my fam inspires me to break out my Canon.

I got my brother to stand in our street & pose like a cool person
(b/c that's what people with profesh cameras do).

B-t-dubs, he just got back from an incredibly long journey on foot from CA to DC.
He was leading a Crossroad's group.
See more on it here.

Incredibly proud of him for sacrificing so much and standing for what he believes in.
& that is why he was my oh-so-lucky model today.
Meet more of the fam, see my hometown, etc...all this week and next!

You can also follow along with our #hometownvisit via @lifeinmod on Instagram! :)

ps. thank you, always lovely Anna of IHOD for showing off one of the pieces from my new little shop, le Pompon!  She styled it perfectly.

Hometown Adventure [day 3:{Mod Mama Fashion Attempts}]

Oct 27, 2011

[If you are just now getting caught up, make sure to check out the beginning of our Hometown Adventure ]

It has been a lovely week. *sigh*. I will miss this.

My sister, 'Malice' was kind enough to snap my weekly Mod Mama photos. I didn't want to pass it up this week b/c I NEED to keep trying or I will get back into a slump filled  with sweat pants and work out clothes. NO, I must press on!

The theme for this week's {Mod Mama Fashion Attempt} is Hometown Nostalgia. All week I have been remembering how it used to be here at home with all six siblings together. We had such good times laughing and entertaining each other. I do miss it. I also know that life changes, people move, etc...Regardless, we will always come back to our home base and catch up with each other.

I am happy that I can count on that.

So.............

I have this idea. Grab one of my buttons, post it somewhere on your blog and join me in my {Mod Mama Fashion Attempts} journey. Pick out an outfit, slip it on, snap some pics and post about it each week.

We could start a revolution here, ladies. A fabulous revolution.

You can find the following buttons on my left sidebar (grab them there). Leave me a comment if you end up joining me in this fashion effort. I want to make sure to follow you!

Hometown Adventure [day 2: Antiquing in Kensington, MD]

Oct 26, 2011

My parents live in the best neighborhood ever, Kensington, MD. I think so anyways & if you ever get to be lucky enough to go, I think you would wholeheartedly agree.

Mix small town atmosphere (even though it is actually right outside the big city of DC) with warm fuzzies and you've got Kensington.

My mom, two sisters (the last of 6 chillins left at home actually) and I took a nice walk along Antique Row in Old Town Kensington. I MADE sure we went before my trip was over ( I would have cried if we hadn't).

Aside from my family, obviously, this is what I miss the most and think of when I am feeling rather sad & lonely- the quaint little town that I used to call home.

I know that no matter where I go in life, I will always, ALWAYS venture back to this place. I imagine myself as an 80 year old woman walking down these streets, reminiscing about the 'good old days'.
Home, family & Kensington are etched into my heart and there they will always stay.

I am sure you all have a place you love as well. Share!! Would love to hear about it.

Our hometown adventure [the beginning]

Oct 24, 2011

The sweet Moo & I are having our first big adventure together this week! We are back in my hometown visiting my family. So far I am loving it (regardless of how it all started off).

The flight here was...errmm...painful, to say the least. Let's just say it was full of screaming, failed attempts to calm with nursing and bottle or toys and me holding back tears. HA! So...a great time!

We made it though (even though I almost collapsed in the terminal).

Here's a look at our visit so far!

I love my parent's house & neighborhood. Isn't it so quaint? Makes me want to curl up with a cupa tea and read all day.

We tried going to a talk about Dorothy Day at CUA, in DC (the Shrine is right next door), but Moo had a break down in mind.

This is us in the car after said break down.
We then had din at a pub across the street...yums. I made myself feel better about eating a burger and fries by getting it w/o the bun. Yeh, I'm healthy like that.

Pop pop & Meh-Meh doting on their grandmoo.

We love each other.

...& then we had another break down on the way home which resulted in throw up and me freaking out about the throw up.

Oh, the life of a mama (I miss my husband).

Keep following our hometown adventure all this week!

*please forgive the horrid pic quality*
