Maternity Outfits for Thanksgiving

Nov 22, 2013

In addition to the Simple Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas post, I've got these maternity outfits for all of you expectant mamas. Can't forget the pregnant ladies!

Cozy kimono or sweater: You all may know about my love for a kimono by now (see exhibit A & B)...and this sweater reminds me of one. It's cozy, awesomely patterned and just says 'Fall'. They also seem to be made for a bump- you don't have to worry too much about the fit, b/c it will just wrap right around that bump. Not to mention, if Sydney wore it...it's usually a safe bet. [shop this outfit: tribal print cardigan or tassel hem cardigan]

Boyfriend cardigan: Who doesn't love a cardigan? Make it a slightly bigger, comfier version and...sold. Add a feminine touch, like a furry scarf, and you've got a great Thanksgiving outfit. [shop this outfit: boyfriend cardigan / faux-fur infinity scarf

Cable knit sweater: it's cozy and forgiving...'nuff said. [shop this outfit: asos cable knit sweater / hush puppies moorland ankle bootie

Maxi skirt (winterized): love how a maxi skirt can be styled for cooler weather- with a jacket, scarf, long-sleeve shirt, booties, etc. Maxis are usually terribly comfy as well, so it's a win win for a mama-to-be. [shop this outfit: PinkBlush maternity maxi skirt / roll sleeve black blazer]

Simple cotton dress: the colors in this outfit are perfect for Thanksgiving! Depending on where you live, you may want to add extra layers- long jacket and tights? [shop this outfit: cotton maternity dress / maternity midi dress]

Cuffed denim & jacket: I have recently realized the importance of having a comfortable pair of maternity jeans that fit well- it's so important. When you feel comfortable in the basics you'll be able to be more inventive when it comes to the rest of the outfit...at least I do! The mama above threw on a pair of cuffed maternity jeans with a striped top, cropped trench and phenomenal booties. Simple, yet she looks soooo good...all ready for a Thanksgiving din din. [shop this outfit: J.Brand Kinetic Mama jean / striped boyfriend tee / cropped trench / Seychelles booties

Leather/coated jeggings: the leather look is here to stay...and mamas-to-be are definitely not being left out. Go ahead! Edge it up this Thanksgiving. [shop this outfit: coated jeggings / maternity hoodie

Tunic top: I mean, it all just looks terribly comfy- loose-fitting top, stretchy bottoms & booties. Done. [shop this outfit: Elerby Top / Essential Treggings ]

& that's that, friends. My decaf coffee is calling my name...and possibly a brownie my wonderful husband brought home for me...

Simple Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

Nov 14, 2013

It's almost time to stuff our faces. Heck yes! Gotta love Thanksgiving for many reasons- family, the food, the lounging around, the food...and the fooooood. I also just love having an excuse to put together a cozy n' extra cute outfit. Not going to lie. So. Are you thinking cozy or dressy this Thanksgiving? Either way, hopefully this little guide will give you some ideas.

1. Cozy: throw on a long sweater with distressed denim, troopa boots (or any short boot really) and a cozy scarf.

2. Wrapped up: if you've got a large scarf, use it as a shawl and wrap it over a simple, black ensemble. You'll look and feel cozy. Not to mention, you can hide that turkey belly. ;)

3. Skirtage: This has to be one of the cutest looks. Ever. via. Simple too! Have a longer skirt? Pair it with a pull-over sweater, tights and pumps. Done.

4. Boho: This is one of my favorite looks- a maxi skirt, thermal top, furry vest and hat. It's just sooo anthro. mixed with a bit of Free People.. mixed with awesomeness. Depending on where you live, you may want to put on a pair of tights underneath that skirt...along with some flat booties.

5. City slick: You can't go wrong with this look. Really. A trench, button-up with simple sweater over top, dark denim and flats. It's simple, yet super classy. You're done.

6. Dressy Layers: Too much cute. I really reeeally want to copy this outfit on Thanksgiving. Mine will just be the maternity version ;). This is a great way to utilize that little Summer dress you thought you wouldn't see until next year- layer a big, chunky, cozy sweater over it and then finish it all off with thick tights, tall boots and a scarf. Perfect.

7. Over-alls: ANMJ always pulls off looks that you'd never imagine could work, but then...she does it...and you're all like, "Oooooo that looks so good. I'm doing it". Yep. The cozy over-all outfit is one example. The flannel underneath, tan booties and jacket over top it all? Come on, S. You kill me. ps. you could wear a long, chunky cardigan in place of the blazer to make it a bit cozier.

8. Tailored: a crisp, classy look is never a bad idea. Neither is a simple black and white ensemble. Just pick out one of your more dressy tops and tailored pants/skirts. You could even do a colorful pump if you're feeling adventurous. OoOoo.

I hope this helped you out a bit when it comes to putting together that Thanksgiving outfit! My brain is turning into mush (can ya tell?)...as it is 10:35 pm and I have been up since 4:30 am (pregnancy insomnia- yayyy), so I am going to leave you now. I won't be making any sense at all in a few seconds....

...aaaaaand...end scene.

Our Thanksgiving 2011 (with a Canon).

Nov 28, 2011

I took over my brother's Canon as soon as I saw it.
Sorry, Caleb.
Ooooh the joy that comes with handling a real camera.
Every time I snapped a pic I would oooooo and aaaahhhhh over the results.
I was like the wonderful Thanksgiving paparazzi. A snap here, snap there and a snap everywhere!
Everyone loved it.

Well, ...I loved it.

Did I overload you with picture goodness?
Good.

Thanksgiving was full of family & love this year.
Blessed.
