thredUP used clothing challenge: outfit #5

Jul 19, 2013

& this is ThredUP outfit #5.
If you've been following along since Monday, you know all about the awesomeness that is ThredUP and the used clothing challenge I took on with them this week. If not, you can get caught up here, here, here & here. This one may be my favorite outfit of all. I am pretty wary of mixing prints- as in, I never do it because I am too afraid I might mix the wrong prints together. I decided to go big or go home for my last challenge outfit though...and I like it!
I was on the way out the door for coffee with my dear friend (who is about to have her sweet little baby, btw...had to catch her before!). Long chats with her are always enjoyable- and we didn't want to stop this time even though we were both yawning every 5 sec. and it was wayyy past bedtime. Yeh. The best kind of coffee date!
Now, let me have an honest moment with all of you...
I did not actually wear these shoes...not to coffee here in Charlotte, NC.
I slipped into a pair of silver, flat sandals before I left. ha-ha.
Just being honest!

THE LOOK:
Old Navy striped top | c/o thredUP
J.Crew floral patterned skirt | c/o thredUP
Silver, studded high heel sandal | ZARA

ps. there may just be another one of these outfits tomorrow...maaayybeee. I have another fun little styling idea up my sleeve.

Style it: GAP 1969 Original Fit Jeans

May 1, 2013

I thought I'd fall in love with the GAP boyfriend jeans...was pretty sure I would actually. After seeing them on ITCWC, Halle Berry, & Atlantic Pacific...I was absolutely certain I couldn't go wrong with a pair.

Errhmmm. Nope. Not so.

I tried them on and instantly knew it was a big fat no. I felt like I could stuff two watermelons down each pant leg and no one would know the difference. I even went down a size!...and they still looked off. So that was the end of my boyfriend jean fantasies. Ha.

Now, the Original fit...perfect. There's just enough of a relaxed look to them (w/o being too baggy), the style proves to be versatile and the length is spot on- even for this tall girl.

So...if the boyfriend jeans don't end up being your cup of tea, I suggest you try Original fit. I think you'll be pleased! :)

that time I was a bridesmaid...like yesterday.

Apr 23, 2013

We just got back from my cousin's wedding last night...needless to say, my 'to-do' list has me gulping down
coffee. Yikes. I wanted to share a bit of my outfit with all of you before things get cray around here...If you're getting ready to be a bridesmaid, maybe this will inspire you when it comes to what shoes to wear.

So...about the shoes I got to wear. Awesome, eh? eek! I loved them. I knew I wanted to do something different from the usual strappy wedding sandal- I wanted it to be a wow. My heart leapt with joy when I found them at ZARA! haha. They were fun to wear and surprisingly comfortable- as you can see when my bros. & I posed it up. We are, in fact, models. Totally.

It was so weird and emotional seeing my cousin get married...she looked so radiant and happy. I grew up with her...almost like sisters. We would always buy the same exact article of clothing, maybe in a different shade...and then realize it when we got together and we were both wearing it. HA! Yeh, we had this weird cousin thing going on. I love her to death...and the guy she married is pretty cool too ;).

WHAT I WORE:
Dogeared ribbon bow necklace
David's Bridal bridesmaid dress
ZARA high heel sandal w. ankle strap
