We are baaaack and hopefully you are too, so that you can join in on this round of How We Wear It- this time it's all about the maxi skirts. I love a maxi, S loves a maxi...you know you love a maxi. They're flattering, transitional, comfy and...comfy.  Sooo S of ANMJ  & I are here to show you how we wear them... (I'm doing the preggers version for a while :) ...

Keep it simple, but add some fun little details- I've said it before and I'll say it 10 million times more. I like simple. It's fun to pack a little style punch into a simplistic outfit though...and I did this by simply adding colorful statement earrings and gold cuffs. Done.

Turn that maxi into a casual little dress- honestly, this was a spur-of-the-moment idea. I was like, "hey, this thing is super comfy...I'm at the beach. Let's make this thing into a dress". I added a belt and dress it was. It won't work with every maxi, but if yours is stretchy...try it out! Ps. You may or may not want to add a semi-nekkid baby to the mix.

Get Fall-ready - It's still a bit too hot for any kind of layering (for many of us), but when it does start getting a bit cooler...throw on a blazer and flats with your maxi skirt. It'll make it a transitional piece that will get you through that in-between season. Btw, my bump is getting on, eh? :)

How We Wear It: long, slim shorts

I did it- hacked a pair of my old skinny jeans into shorts. I was a leeetle worried, because you know...you can never be too careful about where exactly you cut-off your jeans. If you cut too far up or down, you mayyyy end up in the "danger zone" (that awkward/mom jeans place). Sooo. I went with right above the knee and it seems to be a good rule of thumb when hacking your jeans into long shorts, fyi.
ANMJ and I are here yet again with another installment of How We Wear It. This time it's long, slim shorts. 

Long, slim shorts with a blouse- I found this top at a second-hand store here in Charlotte. It's thin enough that I can get away with wearing a longer sleeve in the 90+ weather going on. The blousy nature of it balances out the very straight fit of the long shorts.

OUTFIT: LC floral blouse (second-hand) | DIY color block straw tote | Bandolino wedges (Piperlime)

Long, slim shorts with a loose tank + hat- there's really nothing better than a comfy, patterned tank for Summer. I have been wearing this one almost every other day (maybe. probably. yes). Pair it with a breathable hat and shoes...Summer lovin' in an outfit.

Long, slim shorts with peplum + sandals- if you look hard enough you can see my dog/toddler smudged doors! I like this look because it's clean looking, trendy and simple. Broken record coming in again...simple, simple...I loveee simple. Btw, these Target sandals are too good. You should still be able to find them in-store. Woo!

Gosh, I love these How We Wear It days. :)
This time it's capris...and that's awesome becaaause I just got my first pair of cafe capris. I had been waiting and waiting (for probably the last two years) until I found a pair on sale that wasn't some awful, rejected color. This poppy red pair fit the bill. I think I maybe did a dance in J.Crew when I found them for $35.
Woo! All right, let's do this, S (& you. Yes, you)...

A lace top or coverlet is just such a sweet way to cute-up an outfit. I threw it on with the capris and voila! Sophistication.

Go Parisian- wear a striped top and roll those capris a bit. Maybe even wear a beret? Ha. ;)

I've recently been trying out the open button-up over a tee. It's just a simple way to switch it up a bit when the plain tee needs mas. Oh...and the shoes! I don't think I have ever owned anything more spectacular. Their zazz factor is through the roof.

That's pretty much how our conversation went.

We are baaaack and hopefully you are too, so that you can join in on this round of How We Wear It- this time it's all about sneakers. They're awesome, delightful, comfy, cute, can be found everywhere...and versatile? Yep.  ANMJ  & I are sharing how we wore them...

I try to find any excuse to wear this hat. I found it in the Clearance bins at Target...I think it was $8. Score. I also found these super comfy, awesome J.Crew peach/neon (they look more neon in person), stretchy, denim roll-up shorts. That was a heck of a description. NO, but really. Go out and buy these. You will thank me! You can wear them long or roll them up if you're having a good leg day. I am smitten. Plus- they look good with sneaks.

Stripes. I can't get enough of them. You should see my Pinterest boards...I should just have one board called 'Stripes' and be done with it ;). Anyways, so I layered up the stripes here...and almost flashed you. Sorry? I think the skirt looks longer in person. Maybe. Well, it's comfy and works with sneakers, so that's a win in my book.

So...I just got these ankle jeans from Joe's Jeans outlet. I had been waiting for forever (& a day) to get my  hands on them. They go a bit above my ankles, but I thought...what the hey...I can do the whole Audrey Hepburn thing. I threw on a dressy white button-up and smacked a bit of lipcolor on and...this...this happened. I felt oober cute and then made unnatural surprised faces. Oh!...and then I tried tying the shirt in front and ended up liking that as well. BAM. 2-in-1.

How We Wear it: the cardigan

We're baaaaaaack.  Ain't No Mom Jeans + Life in Mod bring you...*drum roll please*...another installment of.... How We Wear it!
This time it's all about those cardigans, gals. They can be boring. So boring.
We're here to make them exciting (right, S?) and totally a daily must-have for Spring. Hanging on to the edge of your seats yet?  Thought so.
So...let me share cardi look #1: the cardi would have been plain boring if it hadn't been for the mix- denim, stripes & bold red. It might seem like random things to throw together. I know, I surprised myself by trying these all at once. It works though! Right? Tell me I'm right.

 & now on to cardi look #2: I played-up the feminine and classy quality of the cardigan by adding PINK accessories- they served to soften and girl-itize the edgy and rockin' biker jacket. Adding pink to anything usually does that. ;)

How We Wear it: that boring v-neck sweater

So I teamed up with S of Ain't No Mom Jeans in order to try out different ways to style a plain, boring v-neck sweater. At first I was thinking, um...my ONE v-neck sweater is sad looking and I think I wore it maybe 5 years ago. How will I make this work??  (sshhh. I didn't tell S that though, b/c I didn't want her to think I'm a styling wuss). I tried it on with a couple things...it looked awful. Soooo I tried it with a couple other things and it totally worked!
